Closing Instructions

Thank you for booking your closing with Aqua-Sun! Please read through the following carefully prior to your appointment.

If you are having us do a partial closing or just blow the lines and have already installed your cover, you must pull back the cover before we arrive so we can access the lines that need to be winterized. Failure to do so will result in an extra charge or the appointment being rescheduled with a rescheduling fee of $50!

Prior to our arrival please have the following available:

  • In-ground pool owner's should have water level lowered, if necessary, as follows:

    • Plaster pool with mesh cover should be 6" below tile​

    • Plaster pool with solid cover should be 3-4" below the tile

    • Vinyl liner pool with mesh cover should be to the bottom of the skimmer

    • Vinyl liner pool with solid cover does not need to be lowered

    • Above Ground pools should not lower water Level!

    • ***If water needs to be lowered for your pool type, we will pump down for an additional charge of $45 per 1/2 hour***

  • Electricity on

  • Garden hose available with water source turned on

  • Cover, water bags, plugs, etc. out by the pool (if not available or unusable we will supply new ones for an additional charge)

  • Filter area free of overgrown weeds, bee hives, etc.

  • Gates unlocked and dogs put in


If these things are not available we will close the pool to the best of our ability. If we have to come back a return visit fee of $60 will be added.​

Click here for closing pricing. We ask that you make payment for the closing ahead of the appointment. You can pay by credit card over the phone or by check. If payment is not received, your closing may be rescheduled and an additional rescheduling charge of $40 will be added. If any extra items are used (i.e., shock, water tubes, plugs, cover clips, etc. ) the cost will be added to the bill and sent after the service is complete.

Full closing includes:

  • Blowing lines and adding antifreeze

  • Winterizing pool equipment

  • Installing Cover

  • Adding winter Chemicals appropriate for your pool

  • Removing accessories (ladders, railings, etc.)

  • Cleaning and checking over filter

Partial closing includes:

  • All of the above except cover installation

We are not responsible for cleaning pool, balancing water, removing toys, etc. prior to closing.

If your pool is green or cloudy we may add extra shock. Please let us know if you prefer that we do not.

You can add a vacuum for $125 for up to an hour.

If you would like us to acid wash grids or cartridges ask us to take care of that for you. We can also acid wash your salt cell for you.

If you have a DE filter, we will disassemble, clean, and inspect it. If there is damage we will make the necessary repairs to have the filter functional for opening in the spring and send you a bill after the service is complete.

If there are other minor repairs needed to your equipment the techs will often take care of them for you and send you a bill after the service is complete. If you prefer not to incur the cost of repairs needed please tell us before we arrive.

Dont forget the keetrol!

  • Keetrol or Stain & Scale are recommended for all pools prior to closing. This is especially important for pools with plaster finishes as it helps to prevent issues with the scaling of the pool surface. It also helps to prevent staining of all pool surfaces. Keetrol should be added to the pool 3 to 7 days prior to closing as it works best when chlorine levels are low.

We cannot be responsible for breakage of parts that are old and worn.

If you would like us to bring an additional bottle of algaecide to be added in early spring, please let us know. This is recommended for all pools, but especially those with mesh covers.
